Sleigh, who had been serving as team captain since being handed the armband following former manager Carl Abbott’s exit, featured in Saturday’s 3-1 home defeat against Lincoln United. Despite his contributions, Jepson has made the tough decision to take the team in a new direction.

Speaking on Sleigh’s departure, Jepson said: “I want to wish Jamie all the best. He’s a great lad and will certainly be missed by the players. But these things happen in football, and as difficult as these sort of decisions are, I’ve decided to take a different approach moving forwards.”
