Newark & Sherwood Pre-match News
Gresley Rovers are back on the road tomorrow as they travel to face mid-table Newark & Sherwood United (3pm kick-off) in new manager James Jepson's first away game in charge of the team. Jepson will be looking for his new team to build on last weekend's home draw against Sleaford, in which new signing Oscar McClure salvaged a late point for Rovers with an 85th-minute equaliser following the second-half dismissal of Jack Andrews on his return from a lengthy injury lay-off.

Rovers have added a few new faces to the squad this week with the signings of keeper Harvey Adams and winger CJ Dunkley. The new boss also announced another new addition on the eve of this weekend's match.

Jay Lord joins from Clipstone Miners Welfare, who are top of the league below. On his latest recruit, Jepson said: "I've watched him play for the reserves at Basford United and he has a lot of potential."

He added: "He has a good left foot, footballing brain, but most of all he is committed and wants to get to the next level. Jay is a left-sided defender who can play a number of positions in different systems and will give us good options. Like all young players, you need a chance, and it's down to Jay to grasp this opportunity."

There is mixed news on the injury front. Kane Lee, who has been out for some time with a knee problem, remains sidelined for the time being, with Jepson saying: "Kane is making good progress but it can't be rushed. He's a big player for us, and whilst the team needs him, I'm looking at what's best for him. When he comes back, maybe in the new year, it will be like a new signing."

Alex Britton, however, looks to be out long-term with an injury picked up in the recent match against Heanor Town last month. "Alex is unfortunately out for the season as he needs surgery on a pectoral rupture," said Jepson. "We wish him a speedy recovery and still want him to be part of the squad."

Eli Christie remains sidelined with an ankle injury, and Harrison Solomon continues to recover from the ankle surgery he underwent last month. Nathan Banton is out of contention with a swollen ankle, but the hope is that he will be fit to return in a couple of weeks' time.

Jenson Cooper is also a doubt and rated 50/50 for the weekend, again with an ankle injury.
