Manager Carl Abbott has been left perplexed by his side's inconsistent performances so far this season. However, the Moat boss will be hoping to build on the positives of a convincing 5-0 midweek victory over Sandiacre Town in the Derbyshire Senior Cup First Round. Despite holding league leaders Eastwood Town a week last Tuesday Rovers were unable to carry that momentum into last weekend's clash with Newark and Sherwood FC. Despite a promising start, Abbott's men ultimately fell to a disappointing 3-0 defeat, leaving the manager scratching his head over his side's stuttering start to the campaign.

Nonetheless, Abbott will be rallying his troops as they prepare to make the trip to the in-form Newark Town, determined to prove their worth and kick-start their season.

In squad news winger Ryan King returns after being rested for Tuesday night’s county cup game and Will Robinson is missing again through holiday commitments. Abbott has signed defender Eli Christie who goes straight into the squad. The 20-year-old, former Derby County scholar joins the club having also played for Ilkeston Town and Grantham Town.
