Danny Holmes Joins Carl Abbott's Back-Room Team
Holmes has been recruited by manager Carl Abbott as current Assistant manager Paul Tomlinson, will be missing from the dugout for the time being. Tomlinson was missing from the dugout on Saturday for the home game against Shirebrook Town and the previous week’s League Cup tie at Bourne Town due to him being issued with a misconduct charge from the Derbyshire County Football Association on the eve of the Bourne Town game.

The charge is related to a pre-season sending-off incident against Nuneaton Town on July 23rd where Tomlinson was involved in an issue with the assistant referee. more...
The club has revealed that Tomlinson is now suspended, pending the completion of the FA investigation into the matter, a decision that was challenged by the club given the interim suspension has been put in place prior to any hearing finding Tomlinson guilty of any wrong doing and arguing the fact that the interim suspension was issued six weeks and 11 games after the initial incident on July 23rd.
During Tomlinson's absence and until the outcome of the charges against him known, former player Danny Holmes has joined the coaching staff to support and will assist Abbott, moving forward.
The club has also been hit with an FA charge under FA Rule E21 for "Failure to ensure spectators and/or its supporters conduct themselves in an orderly fashion whilst attending any Match." This after a Gresley supporter is alleged to have made threatening remarks the match officials as they were leaving the pitch at the end of the match.
Gresley Rovers Football Club would like to remind all supporters of the expected standard around behaviours when attending any of its matches.
