In a bid to strengthen his squad before the game, the Rovers manager attempted to complete the signing of experienced central defender Michael Townsend. However, the deal could not be finalised in time for him to be considered for this weekend’s game. Townsend has however joined the Moatmen on a permanent basis and is expected to be available from next weekend when the Rovers travel to play Rugby Borough in the FA Vase.more...
One signing the manager did manage to secure in time for the game is Jordi Gough, who has joined on a dual registration loan from Quorn. Gough is no stranger to the club, having had two previous spells, and he goes straight into the squad for the game against Khalsa.
Regarding his new signings, Abbott said, "While I'm disappointed we couldn't sign Michael Townsend in time for this weekend's game, he will bring much-needed experience and guidance to our young defenders, having enjoyed a fantastic professional career with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Barnet, Cheltenham Town, and Hereford United. He also has significant non-league experience with the likes of Rushall Olympic, Coalville Town, and Nuneaton Borough."
On Jordi Gough, he added, "I've always been a big fan of Jordi, and we have a great opportunity to use him over the next couple of weeks. We've reached an agreement with Quorn on a dual registration loan, and he will definitely add to our defensive options for tomorrow's game."
In other team news, Finn Barker remains sidelined due to a fractured foot, while Bekhir Halil will also miss out after tweaking a hamstring on Tuesday night. Dylan Hunniford and Kane Lee are unavailable due to holiday commitments.
