Barker And Hart Added To The Squad
Gresley Rovers manager Carl Abbott is "really pleased" to confirm two further additions to his squad for the 24/25 season. Both are familiar names to Rovers’ supporters at opposite ends of their respective careers, however both provide "that bit of x-factor every good side need" according to Abbott
Finn Barker has signed for the club following a brief spell at Rovers early in the season on loan from Solihull Moors. Despite a quite sensational debut performance at The Moat against Boldmere St Michaels, his loan spell was brought to a premature end by a nasty concussion suffered in the following game. Finn now links up with the club full time having moved away permanently from Solihull Moors.

Steve Hart has also returned to the Moat Ground and needs no introduction to Rovers supporters. Hart is a local goal scoring phenomenon and played a pivotal role in the clubs promotion success of two seasons ago. With a left foot like a hammer, and the ability to conjure something from nothing, Harty will no doubt be a player supporters will be delighted to see back at the football club.

Speaking about his latest additions Carl Abbott commented: “I’m really pleased to be able to sign these two significant additions for us for a number of reasons. Both Steve and Finn add some real star quality to the group. Finn is a young player whose future could still be anything he wants it to be. Either centrally or wide he has ability and searing pace which hurts teams. For me I have no that we have signed one of the best young attacking players in the division”.
“Harty will, of course, be a valuable asset to the club at this stage in his career. He has performed incredibly well for us across stints at Hinckley, Quorn, and previously here at Gresley Rovers. With the mood around the club starting to lift and excitement building ahead of the new season, Ste has decided that he wants to get himself back in top physical condition and have another go at playing for the club next season”.
“I know Harty well, and I understand that when he finds himself at a crossroads, which has happened numerous times before, and he decides he wants to pour his heart and soul into football, he always delivers. That's really all I need to hear from Harty - that he has the desire and commitment. I know what that will mean in terms of his total dedication and his goal-scoring record, which is exceptional at this level”.
“I am pleased to be able to deliver these positive updates for our supporters, who I'm sure will be excited to have Harty back in the squad for the upcoming season”.
