Gresley Rovers’ stylish full back Martin Dick promises there will be no love lost when he lines up against Sunday soccer team mate Ray Dennis in Saturday’s FA Vase spectacular at the Moat Ground.
Dennis – goalkeeper with Rovers’ last 16 opponents Emley – and Dick play in the same Long Eaton Sunday side. But their friendship will be buried for 90 minutes at least when Rovers and their Northern Counties (East) League opponents do battle for a place in the Vase quarter-finals.
Dennis still plays for the Huddersfield based side despite living in Shardlow and is rated highly rated by Dick.
“He’s a tremendous keeper with great reflexes. They are obviously a very strong side bit I don’t think we’ve got anything to worry about. I’m very confident that we will go through.”
