Carry on, Karl!

Goalkeeper Karl Austin WILL play for Gresley on Saturday. The 26-year-old Moat Ground star who went mysteriously “missing” last week, has been in touch with manager Frank Northwood after a week’s silence.
And he has declared his intention to help Rovers across the difficult FA Vase hurdle presented by Saturday’s trip to RSSC Ransomes in Suffolk.Austin said last night: “There was a mix-up over a message which was passed to me over the phone while I was out training with a local team near to my home in Oxfordshire. But Frank has been in touch with me since I’m looking forward to playing on Saturday. All our difficulties have been ironed out.”
Said Northwood: “I’m happy with what Karl’s told me and obviously pleased he’s playing on Saturday. His experience could make all the difference.”
Bob Aston, Austin’s rival for the Gresley keeper’s jersey, faces the Staffordshire FA in Crewe tonight.
Disciplinary officials will hear new evidence in respect of the incident earlier in the season when Aston – then with Eastwood Hanley – was alleged to have bitten the nose of a rival manager.
Aston appealed against a 56-day suspension at a hearing in Stoke last month and a new hearing was ordered.
Gresley have completed the signing of 29-year-old Mile Oak Rovers winger Kirk Jennings.
