Wells Leaves
Following discussions last night with club chairman Gary Norton and manager Carl Abbott it has been mutually agreed that forward and captain Kieran Wells will leave the club with immediate effect.
Commenting on the news Norton said: "Kieran has captained the side and grown into the role well this season and despite him not having the best of luck in front of goal has tried to keep focused and work tirelessly both on and off the pitch for the club. However, following discussions last night that were initiated by Kieran and with the best interests of the Football Club in mind, which is huge credit to him, we have mutually agreed that he will leave the club with immediate effect. We do not yet know where he intends to move at this point.”Norton added:“From my perspective I'd like to thank Kieran for his efforts whilst at Gresley Rovers Football Club. He is someone I got to know reasonably well over the course of the season and we get on really well and as such we part on good terms. He will always be welcome at the Moat Ground. I particularly appreciate his humour which is unique, but also the openness and honesty he has always shown in our discussions which, based on my experience, is quite refreshing to see in a footballer these days. We certainly wish him well at whichever club he moves to going forwards.”
