Gresley draw a blank

Gresley Rovers have failed in their attempts to sign a goalkeeper in time for Saturday’s FA Vase assignment.
Rovers have been plunged into a keeper crisis after the mystery disappearance of Karl Austin just a week before the Third Round trip to Suffolk – based RSSC Ransomes.Regular first-choice Bob Aston is cup-tied, leaving Rovers assistant manager Glen West trying to sign former Tamworth and Moor Green ‘keeper Roy Sullivan.
But Sullivan was unable to get enough time from work to make the long journey to Suffolk and now Northwood is left hoping that Austin will be in touch this week.
Northwood said: “If Karl contacts me I will use him in the Vase but Bob Aston is our first-choice keeper now.”
The Moat Ground chief has strengthened his squad further after Saturday’s disappointing 1-1 draw at Wednesfield Social but it could be some time before his latest signings are able to pull on a Gresley shirt.
Central defender Dean Page and striker Mark Abbotts are both still registered with the Brereton Social and until the club’s dispute with the Banks’s League following their resignation is settled they are not allowed to join another club.
