Controversy-racked Gresley Rovers keeper Bob Aston has won a stay of execution from the Football Association and plays in tonight’s Banks’s Premier home game against Blakenall (7.30).
Aston was handed a stiff 56-day suspension for his part in an alleged FA Cup brawl in which he is said to have bitten the nose of an opposing manager after appearing for his former club, Eastwood Hanley. He appealed against the decision and will now have a personal hearing in front of FA officials on a date to be fixed. In the meantime he can continue playing for Rovers.
£1m man Steve Daley is also set for his second appearance at the Moat Ground after a brilliant debut against Tipton last week.
But injury victims Martin Devaney (calf) and Mark Bromley (ankle) both miss tonight’s game against the bottom-of-the-table club.
