Vase job for Hall?
Story courtesy of Burton Mail
Hard-tackling midfielder Guy Hall may be thrust into Gresley Rovers’ quest for FA Vase glory on Saturday as manager Frank Northwood tries to toughen up his side for the first round visit to Harworth CI.
Hall ends a suspension this week and Northwood is toying with the idea of bringing him straight into the side for the Vase assignment.“Guy may be short of match-practice but I feel we needed someone like him at the moment,” he said.
Northwood is growing increasingly concerned that Rovers are beginning to become a “soft touch” again in midfield and with Harworth likely to provide a stern physical challenge he feels Hall could be just the man.
Assistant manager Glen West said: “It will be all about going up there with the right attitude and doing the job.”
Full backs Martin Dick and Mark Bromley missed Saturday’s 3-3 draw at Chasetown with injuries but Northwood is hoping to have both available on Saturday.
· Rovers’ league cup tie away to Hinckley Athletic have been put back to Tuesday, November 3rd (7.30 pm).
The tie should have been played on Saturday. October 3rd, but Hinckley will be involved in the Leicestershire Senior Cup on that day.
· Gresley have been drawn away to Stanton or Ilkeston Town in the second round of the Derbyshire Senior Cup.
