Gresley Rovers made a handsome profit last season – despite spending more than £17,000 on player’s wages and expenses.
Accounts presented at the club’s annual meeting showed a surplus of £4,129 in the year ended May 31st.And that means Rovers will be in the black to the tune of £7,000 even after they have settled a Corporation Tax bill of £1,282.
By far and away the biggest source of income was a donation of more than £25,000 from the highly successful Supporters Club tote.
Gate receipts, canteen profits and programme sales brought in £7, 450 and the club also picked up £2,000 from Derby County as the balance of the Phil Gee transfer and more than £1,400 from main sponsor Bass.
Total income was £39,000, while expenditure was just under £35,000.
Match and playing expenses, including wages, were £25, 348 and ground and administration costs totalled £6,600.
