Northwood shake-up at Gresley
Story courtesy of
Gresley Rovers manager Frank Northwood has announced three new arrivals at the Moat Ground – and three departures.
· In .. comes former Port Vale coach Alan Philpott as Northwood’s right hand man.· In .. comes former Derby County left back Martin Dick from Borrowash Victoria and
· In .. comes highly rated striker Paul Acklam also from Borrowash. But
· Out .. go first team coach Jeff Bourne, midfield player Guy Hall and winger Gary Stevens.
Announcing the changes last night, Northwood said: “Next season is a make-or-break season one for Gresley and the change of coach is intended to make us more professional.”
On the playing side, Northwood has decided to dispense with the services of Hall, former Burton Albion favourite who became a first team regular after joining Gresley midway through last season.
Stevens, a much-vaunted signing from Willenhall, has not been in contact with Northwood about next season.
But Northwood, who plans to build up a bigger squad for next season’s crack at the Banks’s League title, has surprised many pundits by persuading two of the Derby area’s top non-league players to come to the Moat Ground.
Dick (25) spent four years at the Baseball Ground as a Derby County player while Acklam (26) is a prolific goalscorer desribed by Northwood as a 40-goals-a-season man.
