Reserve Team Duo To Continue
The double double winning Reserve Team management due of Todd Foster and Richard Jarvis confirmed this week that they will remain with the club for the forthcoming season.
After winning the Midland Football League Reserve Division title and League Cup last season, claiming a double double, new Club Chairman Mark Alflat and First Team manager Gary Norton were keen to ensure that the popular local due remained at the Moat Ground for the upcoming season to continue the great work they and the team have done over recent seasons.Confirming the news to Gresley FC's website manager Gary Norton commented: “We are delighted to confirm that following a meeting last night with myself, Carl Slater and Jamie Barrett that both Todd and Jarv have confirmed they are remaining at the club going forward.
"They indicated at the end of the season that they wanted some time to think about what they wanted to do next season and that they wanted to see what was going to develop behind the scenes in terms of the club's situation off the pitch.
"Both have recently returned from family holidays and we were keen to meet them and discuss how we wanted to ensure both the First and Reserve teams in addition to the u18's and Youth setup could work a lot closer together going forward. The meeting was very productive and during it both of them confirmed they were remaining with the club for next season which we are all delighted with."
Norton added: "They have developed a really talented group of local lads over the last couple of seasons, a number of whom are knocking on the door of the first team on a regular basis and we hope and expect see a few of them make the permanent step going forward. I saw that first hand at the end of last season and just what a tight knit group of players they have developed which is huge credit to Todd, Jarv and the rest of their backroom team.
"Some of those have lads have the real potential to make the step into regular first team football and others have more work to do but all have the raw ingredients needed to give us something to think about. We agreed during our meeting how we plan to work closely together next season and try to support each other in every way we can to ensure that there is a clear pathway between the two sides and I expect for the same positive relationship to exist the other way between our Reserve, u18's and Youth sides. This is really good news for the club and another confirmed piece in the off pitch jigsaw in place as we move towards pre-season"
On pre season Norton confirmed that training will start for both the first and reserve teams on Saturday June 30th at Gresley Old Hall.
