Gaz Norton's reserve team news
Its been a bit quiet of late on the Reserve Team front with quite a few postponements over the Christmas Holiday and into the New Year.
The last two games were on the 29th Dec away at Bilston and then last Tuesday at home to the Reserve Division high-fliers, Solihull Borough. The game against Bilston was an exciting 3-3 draw but from our point of view it was certainly a game we should have won. After taking the lead early on we found ourselves 2-1 down at half time. An excellent 2nd half performance saw us turn it round to make it 3-2 only for us to let the lead slip again late on with sloppy defending.
Last Tuesdays game at Solihull saw us well beaten 3-1 but due to some wasteful finishing from our visitors, we found ourselves in with a shout on nicking a point after Lee Westwoods equalising goal midway through the 2nd half.
This Saturday should see us in action at home to Willenhall (2-45) and after the long period of relative inactivity, the lads are chomping at the bit for a game and I hope those of you who are there get a decent game to watch.
Finally, a massive well done to John, Alan, Andy and All the lads for the magnificent result they pulled of on Saturday. The atmosphere and Moral of the team before the game was high so you can only imagine what the mood was like afterwards. The result has given the lads belief that giant killing is a possibility. The support from those that went was fantastic and I’m sure it will be the case again tonight.
Hope to see some of you at the Reserve game on Saturday.
