Injuries rock Rovers

Injury-ravaged Gresley Rovers can muster only five first-team regulars for their final, vital Banks’s League game of the season.
Rovers travel to Halesowen Harriers (7pm) needing a victory to be absolutely certain of third place and a slice of the sponsorship pool.More significantly, they have been told that their application for promotion to the Southern League Midland Division could depend on their league position.
Treasurer Peter Jenkinson said: “The Southern League is looking to recruit extra teams for next season because some clubs are leaving and at least one has folded.
“As we understand it, it is normal practice to consider only those teams finishing in the top three of their respective league so fourth place might not be good enough.”
Sadly, Rovers crop of injuries continued in Monday’s League Cup final against Atherstone United, when midfielders Ian Earley and Jon Laws picked up knocks which force them to miss tonight’s trip to the Black Country.
Only regulars in the squad containing three “unknowns” are skipper Steve Dolby, full back Keith Williams, midfielder Guy Hall and strikers Martin Devaney and Gary Stevens.
The side could include Wolverhampton Sunday League players Neil Morgan and Sutton Town defender Paul Haywood.
