Goole AFC Pre-Match News
Gresley return to league action as they take on Goole AFC at the Moat Ground tomorrow - 3pm.
Any supporter who made the long trip to the Pleasure Grounds a month ago will very vividly recall how they returned to South Derbyshire without even a share of the points after being two goals up with just 20 minutes left only to suffer a 4-2 defeat.Caretaker manager Wayne Thornhill will possibly have to make changes to the side that beat Tividale last week in the FA Trophy.
Luke Edwards and Kieran O'Connell are both doubts for the game. Edwards was suffering from an ankle injury at half time but managed to play most of the second half. O'Connell was subjected to some tough tackling from Tividale one of which resulted in a knee injury which proved to be slightly more serious that first thought. Both players will be assessed tomorrow.
Thornhill said: "I'm hoping both Luke and Kieran will be fit enough to play. We strapped Luke's ankle at half time and he managed to almost complete the full game. Kieran was on the end of a poor tackle but managed to get through the game. However, there was a reaction the next day and he's been struggling this week. We'll have to see how he is tomorrow. If necessary I'll have to make a few little changes but we have the squad to be able to do that."
John Guy is still a couple of weeks from returning to action as his knee injury is not responding to treatment as quickly as hoped.
Callum Riddell has been getting match fitness playing for the reserves after recovering from a broken wrist.
