The Ox To Hang Up His Boots
Royce Turville
Moat Ground favourite Royce Turville has decided that the time has come for him to hang up his boots.
Writing on the Club's website he says:"I'm writing to let the fans know I have decided I will not be signing again with Gresley FC next year and to say a massive thanks for the support over the last 5 seasons.
My initial plans are not to play football in the near future as after playing for the last 16 years at Senior football I feel I really need a break, in addition family life, my body not allowing me to stay fit and growing work commitments have helped my decision.
In terms of my football career Gresley FC has been without doubt the best club and most enjoyable period, I have met some great people, made some friends for life and had memories that will remain with me forever. The fans, back room staff, players, management and board have always been friendly and welcoming to me right from the start - I cannot praise the club and fans enough for their support!
I've had so many highs over my time to name a few they would include, Spennymoor at home, Dawlish away, Long Buckby away, 20 consecutive league games unbeaten in 10/11, Kings Lynn at home 11/12, Three Bridges away, Willenhall away winning the league! And obviously winning back to back league titles, picking up Players Player, Managers Player, Supporters Player, most man of the matches, top scorer and all 74 goals that I've scored whilst at the club!
Being a local lad I will still be visiting the Moat on a regular basis but on the other side of the fence as a supporter and hope to have some further great experiences with Gresley as a fan.
