Gresley Rovers have persuaded one of the Banks’s League best-known managers to take charge of their reserve team next season.
The man who has accepted the challenge of leading Rovers’ second team into Division Two of the former West Midlands League is Mick Plimmer, manager last season of Premier Division outfit Tividale.Plimmer has also managed Blakenall and Mile Oak and completes a formidable management team at the Moat ground as Rovers prepare for the task of repeating their successes of last term.
Manager Frank Northwood said: “Mick is a tremendous acquisition. Our aim is to win the Division Two title and I think we have put our reserve team in very good hands.
“He knows the West Midlands scene inside out and is a very good coach. Naturally we are also hoping that he will be able to attract new players to the club to give us an even stronger squad than last season.”
Plimmer will be assisted by John Wayte, last season’s reserve team boss at the Moat Ground.
Northwood said: “Mick’s appointment is no reflection on John, who I thought did a very good job for us last season in difficult circumstances.
“We felt, however, that we needed someone with experience of West Midlands League football.
“Personally, I’m pleased that John has agreed to assist Mick because he has a lot to offer this club.”
