Gresley take their first step in this season's FA Cup competition with a tough trip to Kettering Town of the Calor League Central Division for the Preliminary Round game.
The match against The Poppies will be the third season running to have seen The Moatmen on their travels for the start of this competition.Kettering have had a turbulent few years ending with their relegation, at the end of last season, to the Southern League Division One South. Their start to the new campaign has been as disappointing as Gresley's winning just one of their first four league fixtures so we are in for an interesting game!
Gresley should see the return of Rob Spencer, Dean Oliver and Matt Roome to the squad with new signing Kieran O'Connell expected to keep his slot in the squad.
However, Danny Holmes and Marc Strzyzewski will be absent as they each serve a one game suspension collected in the Mickleover game. Also missing is Richard Hanslow who looks to be on his way out of the club. Manager Martin Rowe explained: "Itchy has decided to leave as he's looking for regular football, which I can't offer. I'd like to thank him for what he's done for the club he's been a really good squad player for us."
