Mickleover Pre-Match News
Gresley take on local rivals Mickleover Sports in their opening league game of the season at the Moat Ground tomorrow - 3pm.
The game will mark a new era at the Moat with manager Martin Rowe in charge and Jamie Barrett wearing the captain's arm band.Rowe is eager for the first game saying: "You get sick of playing friendlies so I'm looking forward to the Mickelover game. I spent four-and-a-half happy years at Sports and I have a lot of friends there.
"We know it's going to be a tough game, and this one's got a little bit more about it, but as long as we've got the supporters behind us we should be okay.
"The game will also see Jamie's first game as captain. He has been at the club a long time and I think he'll do an excellent job. Unfortunately, Gary Hateley has to make frequent trips abroad due to work commitments and we appreciate work has to come first but we need some stability both on the pitch and at training."
Rowe will have a near full strength team to chose from with the exception of Jordan Nadat (back) and Mickey Lyons serving his final game of his three match suspension carried over from last season.
Rob Spencer is a doubt still suffering from slight dead-leg but Marc Goodfellow and Danny Holmes who missed the final pre-season game against Bamber Bridge, should be available.
There will also be a new face in the squad. Scott James, who is a right-sided player / winger has signed from Tamworth.
