Jepson Stays
James Jepson
After the disappointment of Tuesday night's defeat at Sutton Coldfield Town Gresley fans will welcome the news that midfielder James Jepson will be remaining at the club after turning down a lucrative move to Kings Lynn Town.
The popular midfielder had been the subject of a seven day approach from the Linnets and subsequently had received a very attractive offer to move to the Norfolk based outfit. However, joint manager Gary Norton confirmed the news today that Jepson would be remaining at the Moat Ground.
He commented: "We are naturally delighted that James has agreed to remain here at Gresley. When he joined last season he was hugely influential in the long unbeaten run we went on from October onwards that culminated in us winning the Midland Football Alliance title.
"He has continued this season leading by example with several fine performances that has attracted interest from other clubs.
"Despite a very flattering and lucrative offer from Kings Lynn James has decided to remain with us which is great news for the club. He's been a real pleasure to work with since he arrived last season and is a huge asset to us both on and off the pitch and we are really pleased that he has decided to remain with us going forwards."
Jepson told the clubs website: "After thinking long and hard about the move I have decided to stay at Gresley. My relationship with Gary, Martin and the lads as well as the affinity I have with our supporters and the Chairman here means that I just couldn't leave the place.
"I have been very flattered by the interest shown from Kings Lynn but now it's been decided I just want to move on and look forward to getting back to winning ways again starting on Saturday."
