Ilkeston Pre-Match News
Gresley make the short trip to Ilkeston on Saturday for their biggest game of the season so far.
The last time a Moat Ground side played in the 3rd Qualifying Round was in 1998 when the beat Halesowen Town at home. They went on to beat Frickley Athletic after a replay to set up an away 1st Round proper game at Walsall where they were unlucky to lose 1-0 to the Football League side.Manager Gary Norton knows it will be a tough game and that his side go into the match as underdogs but believes they have the ability to pull off a shock result. "We're looking forward to the game," said Norton. "Martin Rowe and the lads were very disappointed with the performance at Halesowen last weekend and we are hoping for a positive reaction and cause an upset which we can do.
Michael Nottingham (thigh) and Phil Massingham (ankle) are both doubtful for the Ilkeston game along with striker Royce Turville (knee).
Moat Ground favourite Turville could face a lengthy spell out of action out with what is suspected as a torn cruciate ligament.
If the injury turns out to be as bad as first thought, Turville will be out of action for several months.
"It's only an early indication and we're waiting to see the results of a scan," said Norton. We don't want to jump the gun but the physio suspects it could be his anterior cruciate ligament and so he certainly won't be involved against Ilkeston."
