Northwood eyes up job

Gresley Rovers boss Frank Northwood is ‘ready, willing and able’ to take over Burton Albion.
Northwood has confirmed he would be interested in moving into the hot seat left vacant by Neil Warnock’s resignation.But he has stressed he will not apply for the job and he is quite happy to stay at Gresley.
Northwood said: “I have never applied for a manager’s job in my life and I’m not going to start now. However, if I were asked that would be different and obviously I would have to give it serious consideration.”
Northwood built successful West Midlands League sides at Wolverhampton United and Malvern Town before joining Gresley just over 12 months ago.
Since then he has transformed a struggling team with a string of good signings and this season has taken Rovers into the thick of the championship race as well as the Fourth Qualifying Round of the FA Cup.
He said: “I feel I’m good enough for the Albion job and it’s up to the directors to decide whether they want to speak to me or not.”
But the Black Country boss said he was in no hurry to leave the Moat Ground.
“I came to Gresley with the intention of building a successful side and that’s what I will do given time. I’m very happy with the way things are going at the moment.”
Rovers achieved the rare feat of attracting a bigger home crowd than the Brewers on Saturday.
