Swans after Attley
Story courtesy of Burton Mail
Stapenhill have made a bold bid to lure former Derby County full-back Brian Attley away from high-flying Gresley Rovers.
Gresley revealed on Saturday that Swan’s boss Mick Allsop had given them seven day’s notice of his intention to approach Attley with a view to persuading him to switch to Edge Hill.

But Gresley are confident of keeping one of their most-prized possessions at the Moat Ground.

Rovers’ manager Frank Northwood said: “Both I and vice-chairman Dennis Everitt have spoken to Brian about this business and he has told us that he has no intention of leaving.”

Attley is club skipper at Gresley and on Saturday collected the Burton Mail Player-of-the-Month award for January.

He went on to give another superlative performance in a 3–1 victory over Tividale which took Rovers to within three points of Banks’s West Midlands leaders Halesowen.
