Priest blow for Frank

Gresley Rovers’ manager Frank Northwood is ready to make another excursion into the transfer market.
Northwood is anxious to ensure that a injury to striker Reg Priest does not hamper Gresley’s progress once the Arctic weather relents and allows them to continue their challenge for honours in the Banks’s West Midlands League Premier Division.Priest damaged an ankle playing in a Sunday League game and the temporary break-up of his successful partnership with Brian Beresford seems imminent.
Northwood said: “At first it was thought he might have a hairline fracture, but apparently it’s not quite that serious. Nevertheless, the lad’s in plaster at the moment so it looks as though I might have to bring someone in from outside.”
Northwood already has two players in mind. One is currently playing in the Staffordshire County League and other is with a West Midlands League club.
The injury to priest is a major setback to a player who had to wait almost half the season to make an impact at the Moat Ground.
His chance came when Dave Butler was summarily shown the door and Prelist has not been slow to profit from the opportunity.
Since becoming a first team regular around Christmas he has swiftly taken his goals tally to double figures, helping Rovers to string together an impressive sequence of results.
