Warning for the Gresley goal-getters

Gresley Rovers make a long awaited return to the Moat Ground tonight hoping to pull in their biggest league gate of the seasons.
The Moatmen play their first home match since December 21st when they take on local rivals Tamworth (7.30pm).

And with a four match unbeaten run culminating in Saturday’s 8 – 0 crushing of Armitage behind them, club officials are looking for a bumper attendance.

The visitors should bring a larger-than-average following despite their FA Vase home defeat against Halesowen on Saturday.

Rovers boss Frank Northwood has warned his side against complacency.

“Just because Tamworth lost on Saturday and we won handsomely it doesn’t follow that we will have it all our own way tonight. I said at the start of the season that Tamworth was one of the best teams in the league and that still applies. We will have to be at our best to beat them tonight,” he added.

Rovers will be without suspended Clive Arthur and Kevin Banton slots into his position.

Mark Bromley is rated extremely doubtful and local protégé Mark Davey is expected to substitute. David Nish is added to the squad as a precaution.

There will be a collection for the Karen Hicklin fund during the interval.

Rovers’ skipper Brian Attley has been named Burton Mail Player of the Month for January. Attley is the third Rovers player to win the award this season following in the footsteps of Brian Beresford and Steve Dolby.
