Reserve Team Manager Announced
Gresley FC have appointed Glyn Andrews as manager of the Reserve Team.
Glynn introduces himself:"I have worked on and off with the Gresley Reserves for this season, both training at the FA centre and also being involved in the technical area on match days on numerous occasions so the transition into the role will not be a difficult one.
"I have spent several years Scouting youth players for a local FA Premier League side and moved into coaching over the past few years.
"My most recent apppointment was at Zameretto Central League side Atherstone Town coaching their under 21's and then their reserve side before financial implications at the club meant the role ended.
"Last season my under 21's managed an impressive runners-up position behind Birmingham City and ahead of a very talented Chasetown side. This was partly due to my knowledge of youth football and being able to bring in some of the best local footballers from around the area and developing the existing squad to play an academy style of football.
"Everything I do in football is taken straight from the academy manual, including helping some of the players into college places whilst training with us and also having strong links with recruitment agencies and finding players jobs.
"What I'll be able to bring to the role at Gresley is simply to put together a young reserve team capable of producing first team players for Gary Norton to use.
"I have watched Gresley youth sides for the last 4 years and Im excited about bringing some of them straight up to the reserve team and look forward to working with Howard Pearson and Steve Gee to achieve this.
"I also have several players who wish to come with me to Gresley, all of which are under 21 ex-academy players, combining these with some of the current team and some of the Gresley youth players would give us a fantastic squad for next season.
"I believe that creating a young reserve side will have massive rewards for Gresley both financially and within the community and with my knowledge of young talented available players who'd otherwise fall into park football.
"I believe that we could achieve great things and move Gresley FC in a positive direction for the future.
"I look forward to the first home game and hope the fans come down to see us."
Glynn Andrews
Glynn has confirmed Sam Austin as his assistant and Brian Treadwell as reserve team coach.
Sam is relatively new to the coaching side of the game but has been playing at this level for a number of years. They worked together last season at Atherstone U21's having some success in finishing 2nd in the league with a number of the lads progressing to the first team.
Brian Treadwell is an experienced coach who has worked at all levels within the game. He has managed at Dosthill, Atherstone and was with Bolehall for a number of years.
There knowledge of local football and the surrounding areas will be invaluable and they will bring in some real quality to the side
