Land Moves On
Tom Land

Manager Gary Norton will this week step up his search for another defender to add to his squad after Tom Land decided to move on in search of first team football.
Land, who joined the club last season from Borrowash Victoria has decided to move to Graham Street Prims.

Club manager Gary Norton said of the news: "Tom has left us to join Graham St Prims. He has left on good terms and we are sorry to see him leave.

"However, he wants to play regularly and as I cant guarantee him that at the moment I fully understand his reasons for moving on.

"At his age he needs to be playing regularly but having missed a good chunk of the season with an ankle injury he has found his chances with us a little limited during the season so far.

"He did very well for us when he got into the side towards the end of last season and we thank him for that but for various reasons he hasn't perhaps had too many opportunities this time round. In that respect he can consider himself unlucky I guess.

"We've had a good chat about it today and all he wants to do is play football so the move will do him good as Prims can offer him regular football. I get on great with Tom and he's been a great lad to work with. He always gives his all and I'd certainly welcome the chance to work again with him in the future should the opportunity come up."

Norton had been looking to add to his squad's defensive options and will now have to step up his search after Land's departure, especially with Barry Woolley and Gareth Langford being out injured at the moment.

He added: "Tom's departure isn't ideal timing for us at the moment with big Baz being out but we are hopeful he could be back this weekend from a groin problem.

Gareth Langford was another option in there but he's also out with a back problem. Fortunately, Rich Butler has done well covering at Centre Half in the last few games so that has been a big positive. We have looking at other possibilities to bring someone new in as even before Tom moved on we felt we could do with an additional defensive option to pick from for the last few months of the season."
