Norton Adds To His Squad
Former Burton Albion, Ilkeston Town and Altrincham midfielder Danny Holmes has signed for the club this week. Holmes (23) signed on Thursday after mutually agreeing his release from Conference club Altrincham at the end of last month.
Manager Gary Norton told the club website: "Danny is a top class player and we are really pleased to have signed him. Although at the moment he's not available on a regular basis due to work commitments he will initially play games when available and will be a great option to have in the squad. "Having said that we are hoping his availability may change in the near future. Regardless of the current situation, when a player of his calibre becomes available it would be daft to pass up to opportunity to sign him. He trained with us last night and looked different class."
Norton also revealed that the club have also agreed to sign an additional goalkeeper subject to the transfer paperwork going through during the next week.
Darren Keeling will join the club from Heanor Town. Keeling's former clubs include Graham St Prims, Borrowash Victoria, Long Eaton United and Mickleover Sports.
Norton added: "Darren contacted us recently to enquire if we were looking for another keeper. Since Simon Baldwin left in the summer we haven't had the competition in that area of the squad and hopefully the signing of Darren will put competative pressure on Gary Hateley to improve his game which can only be a good thing.
"Darren should complete his move during the week and I'd like to thank Heanor's Glenn Kirkwood for his help in that."
