Gresley Rovers boss Frank Northwood has scotched rumours that there is dressing room unrest following the departure of Roger Davies.
Since Davies’ sacking two weeks ago rumours have been rife about low morale in the Rovers camp. But Northwood has denied reports – just before tonight’s crucial Derbyshire Senior Cup clash with Buxton at the Moat Ground (7.30pm).
He said: “There are no problems behind the scenes at all. The spirit in the dressing room is still excellent. Anyone who comes into the dressing room before a match or attends a training night will see for themselves the morale of the players.
Tonight’s twice postponed match could have a crucial bearing on Rovers’ season. The defeat at Hinckley in the FA Vase means the Senior Cup is Rovers’ last chance for cup glory.
If they can overcome Multipart League Buxton there is the incentive of a home quarter-final with holders Matlock Town.
Steve Dolby will receive his Burton Mail player-of the-month award for October before kick off tonight.
