Blackwell MW Pre-Match News
Gresley manager Gary Norton has yet to decide on his starting eleven for tomorrow's first league game of the season against Blackwell Miners Welfare at the Moat Ground – 3pm.
Striker Royce Turville managed the final twenty minutes of Tuesday's friendly at Shepshed but his recent calf injury has been a cause for concern and Norton may well rest the striker for some of the game to help continue his recovery although the striker did come though Thursday's training without any reaction.Oliver Hancock, who has impressed during pre-season, is definitely missing due to a hamstring and groin problem.
Defender Matt Hill is still away on holiday but Norton could welcome back a couple of players who missed the midweek friendly due to their flight being delayed from Ibiza, Mickey Lyons and Chris Bate.
Norton rates Lyons as a key member of his squad and was frustrated that the creative midfielder wasn't able to feature at The Dovecote.
Another player Norton was hoping to have a look at was Shaun Wilkin the former Kidderminster Harriers player who was due to sign for Blue Square North outfit Ilkeston Town but due to the restrictions the FA have handed them Town are unable to sign more than sixteen players and Wilkin was let go.
Unfortunately, a heavy tackle saw the youngster limp off the pitch at Shepshed after just twenty minutes and he will be out for the next two or three weeks. Rhys Powell was also injured in the same game and will not be fit enough to play. Gareth Langford will also miss the game due to a recurrence of a back problem.
