Pre-Season Boost As Woodall Returns
Brian Woodall
Gresley FC who returned to prepare for the new season last weekend has received a real boost. Last season’s top scorer has chosen to return and make a commitment to the club.
It was expected that Brian Woodall who scored 30 goals (20 league/10 cup) would join Halesowen but he himself had a change of heart and decided to return to the Moat Ground. Now Brian has shown this commitment Gresley are keen for him to play a bigger part not only next season but in years to come. The Manager of Gresley FC, Gary Norton, said, “I was delighted when Brian phoned to explain he wanted to come and talk to me about returning again this season. Last month he advised us that he would be starting preseason with Halesowen but had promised me he would keep us updated on how things were progressing.”
“However, it appears he has had a complete change of heart and we are all delighted he has signed for us again. Losing a player of his calibre with his goal scoring record and overall contribution would have been a tough act to follow. Whilst Royce Turville scored 21 goals for us last season we would not have had the success we did in the East Midlands Counties League and FA Vase without Brian’s contribution.”
“When the rest of the squad got to hear the news they gave Brian a round of applause as he walked through the dressing room door and that’s a measure of how highly we all rate him. When he signed we sat down and looked at what targets we want him to achieve this season and parts of his game we feel he could improve on and he is well up for the challenge”
Brian Woodall, added, “Like many of the lads I feel comfortable here at Gresley and at the moment that’s important to me. When I came to look at the other opportunities I decided to stay where I was enjoying my time rather than taking a risk somewhere else.”
