Gresley FC Announce Management Changes
Justin Goodchild, Gary Norton & Martyn Rowntree
Gresley FC are pleased to announce some changes to the management line up for the 2010-2011 season which involve the first and reserve team. Martyn Rowntree is stepping up from reserve team manager to replace Simon Van-de-Broucke as first team coach whilst former Stapenhill manager Justin Goodchild has been appointed as reserve team manager.
Manager Gary Norton has spoken about the changes: "Whilst we had a reasonably successful season on the pitch I felt there was a need for a change amongst my backroom team and Simon leaves with our best wishes." "Martyn has worked for the last two seasons with the reserves and during that time I have been very impressed with his coaching skills. He has always said that he would like the chance to work with the senior players and he now has that opportunity. He’ll also benefit personally working alongside not only myself but Martyn Rowe who has vast experience."
"To fill the void left by Martyn we have appointed Justin (Goodchild) as our reserve team manager. I know him well and I want him to concentrate on developing the reserves so that players are able to progress into the first team. Equally I want a reserve side that our first team players, when required, are equally proud to play in."
Martyn Rowntree, commented: "This is a significant step for me but one I’m really excited about and I can’t wait for pre-season. In some ways when you’re managing the reserves, a lot of your time is spent on non-football matters such as organising players and transport so it’ll be nice to spend more time concentrating on the coaching side of football with better players."
New reserve team manager, Justin Goodchild, added: "I know that a reserve side usually changes a lot over the summer with players coming and going but there are still a lot of players who are drawn to Gresley. I am aiming to put together a side that is competitive not only in its own league but is producing players ready for the first team."
Two evenings of trials for any player wishing to be considered for the reserves have been arranged for 22nd and 24th June beginning at 7:00pm at Shobnall Leisure Complex.
