Gray Back At The Moat
Chris Gray will return to the Gresley FC squad for the first time since November - and will stay with the club for the remainder of the season.
Gray signed dual forms for the Club earlier this season whilst at Grantham Town and played a few games on his recovery from a foot injury.

He returned to Grantham in November before later moving on to Shepshed Dynamo with whom he has been playing his football recently. However, Gresley retained his registration and have now persuaded him to return to the club to help with the hectic run in to the season.

With Martin Gadsby and Tom Land both cup tied for Saturdays FA Vase game and defender Jack Coulson having picked up an ankle injury in last week’s defeat at Holbrook the return of Gray couldn't have come at a better time for the club.

Matt Millns was drafted in to cover for the suspended Jamie Barrett in the last round against Long Bucky and Norton had hoped to be able to call on his services again but Millns has recently signed for Grantham who are understandably reluctant to allow him to play.

The returning Gray will help alleviate the situation and give manager Gary Norton a few more defensive options to play with.

Norton said: “With the amount of games we have coming in the next couple of months we have been looking at areas we might need to increase our squad to help with all the games and Chris gives us options all over the pitch.

"He’s got a two game suspension coming up in early March but that aside we persuaded him to come back for the run in and are delighted he has agreed. He will give us choices in a number of positions but primarily we desperately needed to add to our current defensive options ahead of this weekend as a result of Jack’s injury and other lads being cup tied.

"We can either drop Gareth Langford back in there from midfield or indeed play Chris. He played at the back as captain of Stamford for most of last season and has been playing very well there recently for Shepshed so if needed he will do a top job for us.”

Norton also revealed that striker Ravi Sangha has signed forms after training with the club for the last couple of weeks.

Sangha, who had a brief spell with Gresley Rovers a few years back, has been a regular scorer in the Midland Alliance over the past years for the likes of Tipton Town and Bridgnorth.

Norton hopes he will provide cover for Royce Turville in the squad for the final 10 weeks of the season. He added: “Ravi is a player of good pedigree. He knows where the net is and can hold the ball up well.

"He returned in November from quite a bad injury and recently contacted us about coming to the club. He’s looking okay in training but we need to get him a couple of Reserve games and see how things go from there but hopefully he could provide us with an option later in the season if needed."
