Gresley Face Spennymoor Town In Vase
Gresley face an extremely tough game in the Third Round of the FA Vase after being drawn at home to Spennymoor Town.
Town presently top the Northern League by three points ahead of last year's FA Vase winners Whitley Bay and qualified for the third round of the competition with a resounding 5-1 win at Bedlington Terriers. Speaking to Gresley FC Online manager Gary Norton comments on the Vase draw:
"First and foremost we are delighted with the home draw. On paper its clearly a very tough draw for us as Spennymoor are flying high at the top of the Northern League which is a step above us in the pyramid.
"Having said that, those sides who are to do well in the Vase and get to the latter stages will need to beat some good sides to do so and Spennymoor certainly look as though they fit into that category.
"We will have them watched as we always try to do any opponent we play although I'm not sure I will be getting too many volunteers come forward to scout them for me over the next few weeks!!!
"We often play quite well against better sides and for the most part this season our home results have been good. We are very much looking forward to the game and will be giving it our best shot but before then we have four games to concentrate on and so for now we will put the Vase competition to one side."
The game at Graham Street Prims scheduled for 5th December will now have to be re-arranged.
