The experienced Burton Albion utility man has been playing for the Moatmen on a loan basis since the start of the season.
But now after playing for Rovers, Albion and Stapenhill in the opening weeks of the season he is expected to settle at the Moat Ground.
Brewers manager Neil Warnock said: “Now that Steve has played in the FA Cup for them he’s their player as far as I’m concerned. But now after playing for Rovers, Albion and Stapenhill in the opening weeks of the season he is expected to settle at the Moat Ground.
“In an emergency I might ask Frank Northwood to let Steve play for us on loan but apart from that he’s now a Gresley player.”
Northwood said: “I’m glad this one has been sorted out. I didn’t like playing Steve in one match and leaving him out for the next.”
Northwood has also carried out his threat to strengthen his forward line.
He has signed striker Reggie Priest from Blakenhall – the man sent off for fighting with Stuart Watkiss at the Moat Ground only two weeks ago.
“I’m also trying to complete a couple more details in the next few days,” said Northwood.
