Dunkirk Pre-Match News
Injuries and unavailability again dominate team news ahead of this weekend's game.
However, Gresley FC manager Gary Norton has managed to complete the signing of experienced defender Mark Blount to cover injury concerns ahead of Saturday's game against Dunkirk. Blount has agreed to sign as cover for Gareth Langord (knee) and Jamie Barrett (hamstring) in case either of the pair are ruled out of the game.
Langford was only fit enough to make the bench for Monday's 4 - 0 win at Ellistown after twisting his knee last Saturday and was covered by Jack Coulson on Monday.
However, the loanee from Mickleover Sports started a three game suspension in midweek so is unavailable this weekend.
35 year old Blount originally joined the former club Gresley Rovers in 1993 but joined Sheffield United for a fee of £12,500 in 1994.
He re-signed for the club in August 96 and gained iconic status as the club as he was part of the historic Dr Martens Premier League winning side playing in every match.
On his signature Gary Norton said: "We have really been struggling for centrebacks and have been trying to persuade Mark all summer to join us.
"He has family commitments on a Saturday these days but has always said he would help us out as cover when required.
"At the moment we are really stretched at the back for various reasons so Mark signing to help us out is a boost to us."
In addition manager Gary Norton is sweating on the fitness of Oliver Hancock (ankle) and will await the outcome of a fitness test on the hamstring of front man Stefan Marshall.
Callum Keenan is out through work commitments whilst Royce Turville, Reiss Morley, Jordi Gough and Andy Elliot are again ruled out through injury.
In addition, Paul Edwards and John Shales move a week nearer to completing the cricket season and should be available from September 19th.
To round that off, defender Chris Mawbey will not be available for the next few weeks after requesting a few weeks off for personal reasons.
Forward Matt Weightman has rejoined the club after leaving Heather St Johns and will be included in the squad as will one or two of the clubs Reserve team.
