Gresley's Future is looking bright
At the recent AGM, Rovers' chairman Mark Evans announced that the club had made an operating profit the first for at least four or five years.
Although still not out of the woods the future of the club is a whole lot brighter than six months ago. A trend of declining attendances had been halted during the past year and this was an indication of how the local community had played its part in helping the club towards recovery.Mark stressed that there was still a lot of hard work to be done by directors, staff and supporters but he is sure that the club will return to its former glories.
The club is also working to develop its merchandising activities with the first team due to take to the field next season in a new look kit.
Before the meeting a silent tribute was paid to Jack Wildsmith, a former committee member and supporters' club chairman, and to Kieron McDermott, a founder member of the Friends of Gresley Rovers support group, both of whom had died within the past week.
During the evening former chairman Peter Hall was presented with a commemorative plaque to mark his years of service to the club.
