Timms Departs The Moat Ground
Carl Timms

Carl Timms

Carl Timms has decided to leave the club in search of regular first team football. The midfielder told manager Gary Norton of his decision after the 2-2 friendly draw against Coalville Town.
On his departure from the club Norton said: "Carl advised me after the game on Saturday that he would be looking to move on to find regular football as he couldn't see himself getting in our side due to the quality of other options we have in the areas he plays.

"When he signed a few weeks ago he was aware of the tough competition for places we had got in the squad. Unfortunately for Carl midfield is our strongest area at present with the likes of Carl Slater, Jamie Barrett, Mickey Lyons and Callum Keenan at the club and I agreed at the time he signed that if things didn't work out we wouldn't stand in his way of moving on so his decision wasn't entirely unexpected.

"I think if we had still been in the UniBond that Carl might have stuck around and fought for a place in the team but with us now playing in the East Midlands Counties league he wants to be playing regular football and you cannot blame him for that.

"Carl's a cracking lad and I am full of respect for him and have loved working with him. He's very professional in his approach to the game and always gives you 110% without question and at some point I would like to work with him again if the opportunity came about.

"On behalf of the club I'd like to thank him for his efforts whilst at Gresley - in particular for last season - and we wish him well wherever he ends up. He could be back at the Moat Ground soon as there are a couple of side in our league interested in his services."
