Hemmings Steps Down
Tony Hemmings
First team assistant manager Tony Hemmings has stepped down from his role with the club for personal reasons.
Hemmings who has been with the club since 2005 stepped up to the role of assistant manager from 1st team coach last season after previous incumbent Mick Curry left for a coaching role in New Zealand. On the news manager Gary Norton said: "Tony and I spoke at length last Thursday about the situation and we looked at how we could potentially make things work.
"However due to personal reasons Tony has decided to step down from his role. Its great shame because he was really looking forward to the coming season's challenge with Gresley FC on the back of a few difficult seasons for us all."
He added "It wasn't an easy decision for him to make but from a club point of view I'd rather him decide to step down from the role now rather than after the season had started so we can keep any disruption to a minimum.
"On behalf of the club I'd like to place on record our thanks and appreciation for his efforts whilst he has been at Gresley. In particular I'd like to thank him for staying with us last season when it would have been easy for him to move on with all our well documented problems.
He has been a great asset to the club and we wish him well for the future. He will remain a good friend of mine."
News on a replacement for Tony will be announced later this week.
