Goole Pre-Match News
Manager Gary Norton will have to make changes to his starting line-up as more injuries add to his selection problems.
Left back Nathan Tate is the latest player to be ruled out of tomorrow's game at Goole after picking up a groin injury in the final minutes of training on Thursday night. The injury is still to be fully assessed but Tate will definitely miss out this weekend and possible beyond. With previous left back incumbent Jordi Gough also out with a groin injury manager Gary Norton has drafted in youth team left back Nathan Rolph into the squad and the youngster looks set to make his first team debut at Goole. In addition, Reserve team defender Justis Hayden who made his debut in Tuesday nights game against Rushall Olympic also did not complete Thursday nights session - another limping off with a groin problem. However Norton is not expecting the problem to rule the youngster out of the game.
The manager is however concerned with the number if injuries starting to accumulate in his squad with another groin injury victim - Chris Mawbey being ruled out for another 3-4 week at least and forward Kev Lock seemingly out for the rest of the season. Norton said: "Its strange to have so many injuries of the same type at the same time. We train most weeks on astro turf and some people are of the opinion that the astroturf surface doesn't help things like groin or hamstring strains.
"I'm not sure myself if its a contributing factor or just coincidence but to have three defenders out with groin strains and a fourth who is struggling with one is difficult to take. Nathan Tate can consider himself extremely unlucky having just got the shirt from Jordi and having a fairly good game on Tuesday."
He added: "Nathan Rolph has been doing well in the youth team this year and trained with the first team for the latter part of the session last night after Nathan picked up his injury. He will travel to Goole with the squad and may well start the game for us."
