Eastwood Pre-Match News
Plans for the season opener against Sheffield FC next week continue with the final friendly of the pre-season campaign against much fancied Premier Division opponents Eastwood Town.
The Badgers are managed by former Rovers player Paul Cox and have had an unbeaten pre-season campaign to date and will provide a stiff test for Gary Norton's side.Midfielder Lee Melon will again miss the match with a toe infection and wing duo Tom Liversage (quad muscle) and Oliver Hancock (hamstring) will have their injuries assessed before deciding if they are fit enough to be involved. New signing Nathan Morris has a groin injury and was rested in midweek but might have a slight chance of being involved in the game. Meanwhile, Jamie Hood is a doubt after reporting a groin problem after Wednesday nights win over Atherstone Town whilst Chris Sleath will travel with the Reserve Team for a start against Borrowash Victoria in a hastily arranged friendly.
Micky Lyons will return to the squad after missing the midweek game through work commitments but Norton revealed that the expected inclusion of a trialist keeper was not now likely to happen. Reserve team goalkeeper Simon Baldwin will be included in the squad and looks set to sign first team forms over the weekend after provisionally agreeing a deal that will see him replace the outgoing Tommy Allan as the clubs second choice keeper.
Trialists Chris White and Josh Butler are also included in the squad and it is expected that their futures at the club will be finalised after tomorrow's game.
