Neil Taylor has been appointed by Gresley Rovers to set up a Ladies team that will complete the compliment of sides at the club.
Neil, who is 45 and lives in Stapenhill, has vast experience of managing ladies football at a variety of different levels and will spend the 2008/09 season preparing to enter a league in season 2009/10.Neil first coached a girl's team in Burton, moved into employment with East Staffordshire Borough Council and they led Derby County ladies under-14's to success over three seasons. He left Derby County to go onto coach in America but had to return for family reasons.
Some ladies have already said they wish to get involved in the new side and there are plans to hold an open session at the Moat Ground when other potential players can meet with Neil and learn more about Gresley Rovers from club officials.
The Chairman of Gresley Rovers, Mark Harrison, said: "I am delighted we have been able to appoint someone of Neil's calibre and I want him to take time to build a side that will do him justice and enhance the club's reputation long term."
Gresley Ladies Team Manager, Neil Taylor, said: "I had to return from the states and this opportunity came a long at the right time and I'm very much looking forward to the future. When I first got involved in ladies football I was stunned at the ability of some players and the standard is getting higher and higher."
"There is a lot of interest in Ladies football in South Derbyshire and surrounding areas and I hope to fully capture that. We may also have girl's sides but I know we have to build over a period of about the next twelve months and hopefully we'll then have a structure people look up to."
