Rovers Start At Home In The FA Cup
There will be a record number of clubs embarking on the long FA Cup adventure.
This years competition has seen 762 accepted entries but when the first competition took place back in 1871-72 there were just 15! Gresley Rovers begin their long trek to Wembley in the FA Cup with a home game against Dunkirk or Alvechurch on Saturday 30th August in the Preliminary Round.
Dunkirk play in the newly formed East Midlands Counties Premier Division which was formed by members of both the Leicestershire Senior League and the Central Midlands League.
Last season they finished 4th in the Central Midlands League.
Alvechurch are members of the Midland Alliance and finished 14th last season.
Should Rovers succeed in winning that tie they then face either Chasetown or Carlton Town at home on Saturday 13th September in the First Round Qualifying.
Gresley Rovers Youth team begin their FA Youth Cup at home to Boston United in the First Qualifying Round. Date to be confirmed.
The winners of that tie will be away to Rainworth Miners Welfare or Long Eaton United or Carlton Town
In the Trophy Rovers face an away trip to UniBond One North side Salford City.
This Preliminary Round tie is to be played on Saturday 4th October.
The winners of that tie have been drawn at away to Southern League Premier outfit Stourbridge on 18th October.
