A Message From Mark Harrison
Before I talk about what is happening at Gresley Rovers can I first of all start saying a big thank you to Mark Evans for all the hard work he has put in at Gresley Rovers over the past 8 years and I wish him and his family all the best in future.
So here we are, can I first of all introduce myself to you, my name is Mark Harrison and I am a businessman from Derby. I am a Derby lad, born and bred, and have been in and around local football all my life. So what brings me to Gresley Rovers? Well Gary Brockway does, he has been a friend for many years and he invited me down to Gresley to see if there was anything I could do to help Gresley move forward as a club.
At our meeting on Monday night it was clear to me that the club needs a big helping hand to achieve exactly that, it is a never-ending job to run a football club and without the tiresome work being done by so many people here, would in all honesty be impossible.
What did me and the other businessman now involved see on Monday to make us feel that we wouldn't be wasting our time getting involved with Gresley? Well simple, Passion!!!
As I looked around the room and listened to what was said by all parties attending it was clear to see that there are a lot of people connected to Gresley Rovers that want this club to be successful.
So what are the plans of this club moving forward, well we have a lot to do but it's got to be done slowly, we have to be sure that we build this club up in a manner that we are moving in the same direction both on and off the field.
Yes, we want to be in the premier league and higher, this club deserves that, and I look forward to working with the Manager Gary Norton to achieve this, but it's got to be done in a constructive way to achieve the outcome we all want at all levels of football within this club.
We are big fans of football at all levels and we want to make sure that we continue to support our teams at whatever level they play.
We are as a group looking for people to help Gresley Rovers get to where it should be and although I have the title of Chairman I have to say that without Gary Brockway and Chris Else behind me a title counts for nothing we are a team and that means we work together to get Gresley Rovers on a firm footing and moving forward.
Can I just say a big thank you to all of the people that I met last night and I look forward to working with Barry North who took the role as Vice Chairman and I would like to welcome back Tony Kirkland as club Secretary.
Also the guys who have given their time to set up the supporters club, well done lads and I look forward to seeing you on the terraces.
There are a lot of people in this club that give up their spare time and money to do what they can and over the next few weeks I look forward to meeting with you and having a chat about this great club.
Last but not least you the supporters, that turn up come rain or shine, THANK YOU. You are the lifeline to this club and I look forward to meeting you and seeing you home and away to cheer Gresley on. I welcome all feed back from you, good or bad and welcome any questions you have.
Thanks for taking time to read this, cheers for now.
