New Faces At The Moat Ground
Manager Gary Norton has wasted little time in recruiting the club's first signings since the sanction affecting the club recruiting new players was lifted on Friday.
20-year-old striker Brian Woodall agreed terms on Friday and went straight into the squad for Saturday's game at Warrington. The former Hinckley United front man made 10 appearances for the knitters in the Blue Square North this season and featured in the Rovers squad in a midweek training game at Atherstone. Norton commented: "The signing of Brian gives us a timely boost in the forward department. Stefan Marshall failed a fitness test before the Warrington game with a knee problem and Paul Edwards, who was on the bench, has been carrying an ankle knock for the last couple of games.
"We have been interested in Brian for a while and he looks a decent young prospect and was recommended to me earlier in the season so we are glad to finally add him to the squad.
"I've been looking to add at least a couple more new faces in the coming days now that the sanction has been lifted to freshen the squad up a bit.
"Another new player midfielder Gavin Saunders also made his Rovers debut against Warrington and another completes a suspension this weekend and we hope to complete the deal over the weekend so that he can be in contention for the Brigg game on Good Friday."
