McGinlay signs two. Third on the way?
John McGinlay has stengthened his side with the signing of two new players with a possible third on the way to the Moat Ground.
Former Carshalton centre back Jake Fairbrother and attacking midfielder Paul Fletcher who has had trials with both Crewe Alexandra and Tranmere Rovers have signed for Gresley ahead of the game against Shepshed Dynamos on Saturday. Both players played in last night's (Weds) 7-1 friendly victory over neighbours Stapenhill.
McGinlay said; " Simon Tucker recommended us to Fairbrother has he has moved to Loughborough after playing for Carshalton last season. We are very fortunate to get Fletcher because up to yesterday he was getting calls from other interested clubs."
According to McGinlay another fresh face could appear at Gresley." I am also hoping to sign a former league player before the match on Saturday. They may not all play but they will certainly be in the squad. I am also going to have another look at the former Leicester City youth team wing back James Pickford and midfielder Donovan Kainton, but it will mean we are a bit top heavy in terms of numbers.
"I said I would shake things up and I have explained to the existing players what the situation is and that I was looking to bring in some fresh faces and I think they were all suprised when four new lads turned up for the friendly."
During last night's match skipper Stuart Evans, Richard Wardle and Matt Moran all played a part and according to the Moat boss have come through ok.
"With them and the new lads coming in we now have a hell of a lot of competiton," said McGinlay.
