It is with great sadness that we report the sudden death of Councillor Bob Southern who died on Wednesday 22nd August.
Cllr Bob Southern, who was aged 61, was elected as the South Derbyshire Council Member for Linton in May 1995. In May 2007 he became the Member for Church Gresley. Soon after joining the Council he became Chair of Housing and Environment Committee, becoming Chair of Housing and Community Services Committee when the Committee's name was changed.
He held this Chairmanship until the change of political control for South Derbyshire District Council on 3 May, 2007.
Cllr Southern was a good friend of Gresley Rovers and was part of the committee that approved the grant that enabled the club to purchase the Moat Ground.
Gresley Rovers would like to pass on their deepest condolences to Bob's family.
There will be a minute silence before the game against Cammell Laird on Saturday.
